Timing: 3/4 (3 beats per bar) Tempo: 28 - 30 Bars per minute The Waltz, or 'slow' Waltz as it is sometimes referred to in comparison to the Viennese Waltz, is a timeless classic. An elegant dance that symbolises ballroom dancing and is instantly recognisable. Traditionally danced as the wedding dance, the anniversary dance and is the usually the last dance of the evening at a social occasion. Whilst the music takes you back to a time when dancehalls were filled with couples floating around, there are more modern waltz tracks that bring it confidently into the social dance group. It is one of the five dances used in International Ballroom competitions.
